WOODEX SOLID Opaque wood stain

Alkyd-oil-based semigloss and opaque wood stain for outdoor use. Contains agents that protect the wood against soiling and weather strain. Does not cover the surface pattern of the wood.

Treatment of new and press-impregnated woodwork and wooden surfaces that have been treated with a solvent-borne wood stain. Not suitable on dispersion-based wood stains. Typical objects are walls, fences and window frames. For log surfaces we recommend WOODEX transparent wood stains.

Direction for Use

Surface preparation and priming

NEW WOODEN SURFACE:

Treat the surface as soon as possible. At least the impregnation and priming would be best done in the summer of construction.

Remove from the surface all loose matter, dirt and dust. Use RENSA FACADE facade cleaner, when needed. Rinse the surfaces thoroughly with water and allow to dry.

Apply one coat of clear WOODEX BASE. Allow to dry for one day.

Prime surfaces with 10 - 15 % diluted WOODEX SOLID. Allow to dry for 1 - 3 days depending on the weather.

PREVIOUSLY PAINTED OR OLD WOODEN SURFACE:

Replace wooden parts that are in poor condition. Remove loose matter and fluffy wood. The adhesion of an old, thick paint layer to the substrate may have been weakened so much that the paint should be removed even if it seems intact. The old paint layer is removed primarily by scraping or wire brushing, and possibly by heating the surface with an infra-red heater designed for this purpose. As a secondary means, a paint removing agent or blast cleaning can be used.

Wash dirty and/or mildewed surfaces with RENSA FACADE facade cleaner. Rinse the surfaces thoroughly with water and allow to dry.

Apply a coat of WOODEX BASE to bare wooden surfaces and prime with 20% diluted WOODEX SOLID. Allow to dry for 1 - 3 days depending on the weather.

Top coating

Reserve a sufficient amount of opaque wood stain in one vessel for each uniform surface.

Stir well and apply by brush or spray in 1 - 2 coats. Treat end grain especially carefully.

Recommended nozzle size for airless spray is 0.013 - 0.017''.

Application conditions

The surface to be painted must be dry.

The moisture of the wood must be below 20 % of the dry weight of the wood.

During the application and drying period the temperature of the ambient air, the surface and the paint shall be above +5 °C and the relative air humidity below 80 %.

Avoid application in direct sunlight.
