WOODEX EKO Special wood stain

WOODEX EKO is a water-borne, oil-based special wood stain. It is easy to apply by brush, it does not run or spatter during painting and it protects the wood effectively from moisture, soiling and when tinted from UV radiation of the sun.

New and previously with transparent wood stain treated wooden surfaces outdoors, e.g. planked and log walls, weatherboards, doors, window frames and fences. Also suitable for treatment of hardwood and press-impregnated wood.

Direction for Use

Surface preparation

NEW WOOD SURFACES:

Remove from the surface all loose matter, dirt, dust and mildew. If needed, use RENSA FACADE facade cleaner.

Prime log surfaces with WOODEX AQUA BASE before the actual treatment, and allow the surfaces to dry for one day.

SURFACES PREVIOUSLY TREATED WITH WOOD STAIN:

Clean from the surface all loose matter, dirt and dust.

Remove loose and poorly adherent old wood stain and fluffy top layers of the wood by e.g. steel brush and steel scraper.

Wash dirty and/or mildewed surfaces with RENSA FACADE facade cleaner. Rinse the surfaces thoroughly with water and allow to dry.

Press-impregnated wood must be subjected to weathering for at least 6 months before it is treated with WOODEX EKO.

Application

Stir the wood stain well before use.

Before the actual application the wood stain should be tested on a small surface corresponding to the surface to be treated.

The result of the application depends on the porosity and absorbency of the wood, the number of coats applied and the application method.

Sawn and planed surfaces have a different appearance after one application, even if the stain is applied from the same can.

Apply WOODEX EKO in one or two coats depending on the strength of the colour and the desired result. Treat end grain with special care.

When old surfaces have a certain colour that you wish to preserve, mix clear WOODEX EKO with the colour in question. Stir thoroughly before use.

It is not recommended that clear wood stain is used alone due to restricted weather resistance.

Apply WOODEX EKO by brush or spray.

Suitable nozzle for airless spray is 0.013 - 0.017".

Application conditions

The surface to be treated must be dry.

The moisture of the wood must be below 20 % of the dry weight of the wood.

During the application and drying period the temperature of the ambient air, the surface and the wood stain shall be above +5 °C and the relative air humidity below 80 %.

STORAGE

MUST NOT FREEZE.
