FERREX Anticorrosive paint

FERREX is an activated oil/alkyd based multipigment anticorrosive paint.

External and internal steel and light metal surfaces. FERREX is also suitable for zinc-coated (galvanized) surfaces. FERREX can also be used for painting bottoms of wooden boats.

SPECIAL PROPERTIES The pigmentation of FERREX effectively prevents underfilm corrosion and neutralizes acid gases in the air. The oil-bearing binder of the paint is capable of penetrating into dry rust layers. FERREX is therefore very suitable for use on rusty surfaces, i.e. steel prepared only by wire-brushing. The pigmentation of FERREX gives good adhesion also to galvanized steel. FERREX has good weather resistance and it can therefore be left without top coat. If desired, it can be overcoated with e.g. KIRJO or FUTURA.

Direction for Use

Surface preparation

STEEL: Wash off grease and dirt with solvent, e.g. TEKNOSOLV 1639. Water-soluble impurities are removed by rinsing with water. Remove loose mill-scale and rust by scraping and wire-brushing.

SHEET-IRON ROOFING AND OTHER UNPAINTED ZINC-COATED SURFACES: It is recommended that new glossy sheet-iron surfaces are left to be oxidized before painting until the surface has become matted. In normal weather conditions this takes about 1 - 2 years. Thereafter the surfaces are washed down by PELTIPESU Cleaning Agent. When it is desired to paint a new glossy sheet-iron surface immediately, cleaning is to be done first by PELTIPESU and then also by pressurized-liquid abrasive blast-cleaning. Use natural sand of grain size 0.1 - 0.6 mm. Small, new zinc surfaces that are to be painted by brush can be cleaned by PELTIPESU Cleaning Agent alone, provided that a brush coarse enough together with effective scrubbing is used.

Remove possible rust by steel brush and wipe off grease and oil with TEKNOSOLV 9550 before treatment with PELTIPESU Cleaning Agent.

PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES: Scrape off all loose paint. Wire-brush all bare areas.

Application

Before use stir the paint thoroughly.

Apply by brush or spray.

Top coating

FERREX can be overcoated with e.g. KIRJO Paint for sheet-iron roofs, FUTURA Alkyd Paints or KRUUNU Alkyd Finish.

Application conditions

The surface to be painted must be dry.

It is not recommended to paint surfaces that are above +50 °C.

During the application and drying period the temperature of the ambient air, the surface and the paint shall be above +5 °C and the relative air humidity below 80 %.
